This month, let’s go to Wow tea! The coffee shop is located at 19505 Stevens Creek Boulevard just east of Main Street Cupertino. This won’t come as a surprise to our readers, but bike lanes make bike rides to local shops safer and more enjoyable, and so it was the case again this month: Wow Tea is located on the segment of SCB which enjoys protected bike lanes. (We can’t wait to see construction progress on the next segment from Wolfe Road to De Anza Boulevard!)
Wow Tea benefits from the presence of an artistic bike rack installed by the Rotary Club of Cupertino with the support of Walk Bike Cupertino aptly designed in the form of a tea cup. The bike rack is ideally situated, right in front of the shop. My bike was visible at all times: before I ordered, while I was waiting and then when I took a seat on the terrace.
The shop specializes in all sorts of tea-based latte drinks. The Dragon Well Tea Latte (with the options light sugar / less ice) was deliciously refreshing, but Cupertino being Cupertino, the shop was out of Boba on a Sunday afternoon!
Just like Cafe LaTTea, Wow Tea is a popular destination for Cupertino’s youth. The Active Transportation Plan draft of the City of Cupertino proposes to build protected bike lanes on Finch Ave. This would make it safer and more convenient for Cupertino High School students to patronize Wow Tea: bike lanes are indeed good for business. However, when the Finch lanes are built, my guess is that I’ll need to go earlier to Wow Tea before they run out of Boba again!
In more of our newsletters, we highlight Cupertino businesses which are particularly bike friendly and we encourage everyone to frequent them.
Being bike friendly can mean a lot of things, but the presence of a convenient and visible bike rack, which makes it easy for cyclists to secure their property, is the most important criteria.
These businesses are attractive targets for our community and we want everyone to know about them!
If you know of such a business, please let us know in the comments or contact us at info@walkbikecupertino.org
