On May 17th, Almost 20,000 riders, an increase of 25% from last year, participated in the Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days, with over 340 energizer stations available to riders.
Walk Bike Cupertino volunteers and the Bicycle Pedestrian Commision ran the City of Cupertino’s Energizer Station, which was located at the same location as previous years, the corner of McClellan Rd and S Stelling Road in front of Saint Judes Episcopal Church. This year, WBC was joined by Mayor Kitty Moore who handed out reflective arm and leg bands. Food was plentiful with potatoes (thank you again, WBC board member and BPC member Joel Wolf for your baking!), bananas, and Cuties and more to help riders stay energized on their bike to their destination.
Next year’s Bay Area Bike to Wherever Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 13th, 2027. Let’s keep the upward trend going and increase ridership again next year!
Cupertino Earth And Arbor Day Festival
On April 4, 2026, Cupertino held its annual Earth and Arbor Day festival on the library lawn. Just like previous years, we helped the county hand out free bicycle helmets for children.
While there, we had a constant stream of visitors stop by to check out the booth, talk to our walking and biking experts, and to receive a free children’s helmet, complete with a specialty fitting. Participants were also able to visit neighboring booths including making bicycle-powered smoothies, learning about the Active Transportation Plan, and watching to various performers sing and dance as part of the festivities.
