Safety

To encourage riding more and walking more, we must do two things: advocate for infrastructure that increases safety, and educate everyone on safe practices for walking and biking.

Cars are the greatest danger for pedestrians and cyclists. Feeling safe from being hit by a car is important to encouraging alternate forms of transportation, especially for adults who are not experienced cyclists. If the streets feel unsafe, parents will not allow their young children to bicycle on them. This includes many streets within our city. Parents will not let their children walk where they feel it would be unsafe to use that route.
