I started my ride on Stevens Creek Bd, and check out the beginning of the video: the attentive reader will notice the markings on the ground: the protected bike lanes (aka Class IV) are coming on Stevens Creek Boulevard between Wolfe and DeAnza! It looks like the same concrete blocks used in the current segment (between Wolfe and Tantau) are going to protect us from the car and truck traffic as well. What a great way to start my trip to our bike-friendly business of the month: Oren’s Hummus, located at Main Street Cupertino (19419 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014)!
Four bike racks are available right in front of the entrance of the restaurant. I sat on the terrace outside and was still able to keep an eye on my bike. The fact that there is a lot of foot traffic at the entrance is also reassuring. The racks are also right in front of the takeaway area so if you are stopping by to just to grab some delicious fresh hot pita and hummus, you are three steps from the counter.
The restaurant is stylish and offers a mix of Israeli cuisine, including, you would have guessed it… Hummus! I went for a delicious lunch of beef kebab and Jaffa-style hummus. The Israeli beer I wanted to try “Gold Star” was unfortunately not available that day. The service was great and my food was ready very quickly.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience. So much so that Walk Bike Cupertino will have a community ride on Saturday, August 8th and we will conclude our ride at Main Street Cupertino to have lunch at Oren’s Hummus! Join us and let’s enjoy biking and some hummus together!
