Each year the City of Cupertino presents its CREST Awards, “Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken,” to honor the outstanding contributions of Cupertino community members. Walk Bike Cupertino is proud to announce that our Executive Board member Kelly Tung is among this year’s winners of the 2021 CREST Awards:

Kelly Tung is a junior at Monta Vista High School and is a Walk-Bike Cupertino Student Executive Board Member. Since the age of 12, she has advocated extensively for sustainability, alternative transportation, safe walking and biking, and inclusion. Kelly founded the JFK Green Commuters at John F. Kennedy Middle School, a program that advocated for school and city green projects including the Regnart Creek Trail, and was also the Chair of the Cupertino Teen Commission.

Kelly is currently the President and Executive Director of the Youth Environmental Power Initiative (sponsored by Silicon Valley Clean Energy) and is a Monta Vista Student Representative for Cupertino Safe Routes To School. 

“I am pleased to honor these incredibly deserving community volunteers with a CREST Award,” Mayor Darcy Paul said. “Giving back to your community is an honorable thing to do at any time, but continuing to do so during a pandemic shows incredible dedication and commitment. Cupertino is lucky to have these volunteers in our community.”
