The Safe Routes to School program was initiated and led by Chelsea Biklin in early 2016 and has made excellent progress. See a slide show recap of the year’s projects and activities at this link: http://tinyurl.com/Cupertino-Safe-Routes-Nov-16 . Looking forward, new goals for the coming 2017 calendar year are:
- Host walk audits at (at least) five more Cupertino schools
- Host map creation stations at (at least) four more Cupertino schools and create Safe Routes maps for (at least) eight Cupertino schools by school year 2017/18
- Evaluate impact of pedestrian crossing flag pilot and expand program if successful
- Install streetlight pole banners featuring five different bicycle safety/encouragement designs created by High School students in Cupertino
