Be Visible at Dawn, Dusk and during Nightime
The #1 thing that drivers say when they injure a cyclist is, “I didn’t see anyone.”
How to avoid being that cyclist that wasn’t seen? Get the right safety equipment.
Here’s a list of safety equipment you should not be without, including at dawn/dusk, which is the time when most accidents are likely to happen:
- Bright colored, highly reflective clothing (not black!), such as a reflective vest
- Reflective bike strips or reflectors
- Red LED light for the back of your bike, and a white LED light for the front, turned on
- A side mirror
- A bike bell
- Optional, but useful: reflective leg straps or arm straps
